Fontainebleau Lip Smacking Tour
- Duration: 150 Minutes (approx.)
- Location: Las Vegas, NV
Experience the exquisite culinary delights of one of Las Vegas’ most impressive resorts, only the second newly built one constructed on the Strip in the past decade, and one of the city’s most expensive. Let Lip Smacking Foodie Tours, the city’s premier award-winning culinary tour company, take you to three renowned restaurants in one memorable evening on its “Taste of Fontainebleau.” All the restaurants are located conveniently within this 25-acre luxury resort that features the tallest occupiable hotel tower in Vegas at 67 stories. The resort is named for its iconic sister property that set the standard for service and style when it opened its doors in Miami’s golden era in 1954, drawing an unprecedented celebrity clientele. Like its namesake, the Vegas resort is a beguiling mix of old-world glamour and new-world opulence.
This 2 ½-hour excursion at prime-time escorts you to three of the resort’s most acclaimed restaurants to enjoy a parade of signature dishes at each one, including an unforgettable dessert at the end. There’s never a wait, as all tour guests are escorted immediately past host stands to the best seats in the house for VIP service from start to finish.
The evening begins at Don’s Prime, an elegant steakhouse that prides itself on classic, old-school service in which servers roll trolleys to tables to finish cooking and plating dazzling dishes in front of guests. The restaurant features the freshest premium seafood, Wagyu from around the world, and prime steaks from Pat LaFrieda, the fabled, fourth-generation New Jersey butcher that supplies meat to the country’s the most discriminating restaurants. It was named one of the “Best Steakhouse Restaurants in Las Vegas’’ by Vegas magazine.
Next, it's on to Chyna Club, headed by Michelin-starred Executive Chef Richard Chen and award-winning restaurateur Alan Yau, who created the swank Hakkasan restaurants worldwide. The chic Chyna Club specializes in Cantonese cuisine, one of the eight great, significant regional cuisines of China. Chen takes this classic cuisine to new heights with additions of luxury ingredients and precision techniques.
The final stop is KYU, the Asian-inspired hotspot that chose Vegas for its first West Coast location, where you'll enjoy delectable savory dishes along with a sweet treat at the end. Its original Miami restaurant was a James Beard semi-finalist for “Best New Restaurant’’ and Time magazine’s winner of “Best Restaurant in Florida’’ only a year after opening. With its exciting open kitchen and mesmerizing views of the Strip, KYU serves upscale small and large plates, including many that are smoked or wood-fired, that draw from influences from all over Asia for big, bold flavors.
The tour is led by a professional guide who will entertain with fun facts and anecdotes about intriguing stops along the way, including pointing out the many allusions to bow ties in the design of the resort, a reference to the Miami hotel’s architect, Morris Lapidus, who wore them regularly. The Fontainebleau is also known for its world-class fine art collection, showcased in sculptures, photography, and paintings throughout the resort. Among them are the striking gold leaf-covered sculptures and playful paintings by Swiss-born contemporary artist Urs Fischer; and the eye-popping “History of Suspended Time’’ by Mexico City-born artist Gonzalo Lebrija, who upended a restored Valiant Duster over an outdoor pool at the southwest casino entrance to create a freeze-frame moment of modern life.
